Karen Zoe Goff

This is a blog intended for family and friends of our sister, Karen 'buzie' Goff. She was in a motorcycle accident on May 25, 2006 while on her way to visit our father in NC. We hope to post regular updates for family and friends on Buzie's current condition. Keep positive thoughts in your mind and heart for her!

case of the mondays...

hey all:

spent the day with mom today....she did really well! she was a bit sleepy all day, but managed to work through all her sessions. by 2:30pm, though, she was definitely ready for a nap!

today mom walked more (with the therapist assisting by her side), wrote her name and answered several yes/no questions! she continues to improve each and every day and never fails to impress those around her with her wit and bright spirit.

keep your head up mom. get some good zzzzz tonight so you can have another productive day tomorrow. we love you so much!!

much love,

sunday evening news- 7.2.06

hey all:

i'm out in indiana for the weekend...got a chance to spend some time with mom yesterday and today. she continues to progress a little each and every day! she talking quite a bit throughout the day...a lot of stuff about work! of course :) she still not completely "self-aware" as they call it. that is, knowing the current date, time...those sorts of things. but she is able to interact and respond to those with her in the moment. we also continue to see many of mom's "isms"...her facial expressions, gestures and phrases.

tomorrow it's back to the daily grind...in and out of therapy sessions (physical, occupational and speech) pretty much all day. she's usually pretty tired out and ready for bed by 6:00pm or so. she is showing physical strength, continuing to improve as far as taking steps as well as pedaling on the bike (a special bike that you just wheel up to in your chair). occupational tasks are a little difficult right now....but that's only becuase it's hard to pay attention. these things will all improve with time!

overall, she seems to be in good spirits and shows her usual determination! keep the positive thoughts going for her every day. it's a long road, but we'll get there!!

keep your head up, mom. your improving every day! we love you so much and will be here for you every step of the way!

much love,
xoxox
