This is a blog intended for family and friends of our sister, Karen 'buzie' Goff. She was in a motorcycle accident on May 25, 2006 while on her way to visit our father in NC. We hope to post regular updates for family and friends on Buzie's current condition. Keep positive thoughts in your mind and heart for her!

update- 7.18.06

hi all:

talked to dad tonight...sounds like mom has had a pretty good start to the week! she's eating a little more each day. this is definite progress as she wasn't wanting to eat very much at all in the past week. she is also occasionally expressing thirst. also a good sign! it's important to remember that for 6 weeks her body didn't think about hunger or thirst. so it'll take some time for her system to get back to normal!

mom is also making cognitive progress! she wrote a letter to dad (a short one) as part of a speech therapy session. she also counted a drawer full of cash (no, not real money!) without any help! she is also showing more and more signs of progressing out of the "confusion" stage. she has been able to say that it's july, and has been close on saying what day of the week it is. physically, she continues to get stronger each day. because of some visual impairment in her right eye, she has been walking/leaning to her left side. however, she is doing less and less of this....so maybe it's getting better on its own.

that's about it! all in all...she continues to take steps in the right direction. mom is estimated to be in rehab for 4-6 more weeks. keep the positive thoughts going...she needs them all!

thanks to everyone as well for the thoughts and prayers for josh's family as they go through a very difficult time. we appreciate all the love!

much love,
